Preparation for Worship: Prelude and Silent Prayer
Almighty God, whose glory is above the heavens, praise waits for you in Zion! Out of your great mercy you have gathered us into your church.  Receive the adoration of our hearts, and grant that we may so honor you, both in spirit and outward form, that your name may be glorified through the worship of our lips and of our hearts. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord;  Amen.

Grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of kings on earth.      Revelation 1:4-5

Give ear to my words, O Lord;                                  Psalm 5:1-3, 12
Consider my groaning.
Give attention to the sound of my cry,
My King and my God, for to you do I pray.
O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice;
In the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.
For you bless the righteous, O Lord;
You cover him with favor as with a shield.

Call to Confession                                                  Matthew 22:35-40
Prayer of Confession                            (From the Book of Common Prayer, 1549)
Almighty and most merciful Father; we have erred, and strayed from your ways like lost sheep. We have followed too much the devices and desires of our own hearts. We have offended against your holy laws. We have left undone those things which we ought to have done; and we have done those things which we ought not to have done; and there is no health in us. But you, O Lord, have mercy upon us, miserable offenders. Spare those, O God, who confess their faults. Restore those who are penitent; according to your promises declared to us in Christ Jesus our Lord. And grant, O most merciful Father, for his sake, that we may hereafter live a godly, righteous, and sober life, to the glory of your holy Name. Amen.

†Confession of Faith                                           The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord; Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary; Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; From thence he shall come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit. I believe a holy catholic Church, the communion of saints; The forgiveness of sins; The resurrection of the body; And the life everlasting. Amen!
